SongLines

During “Parcours Est” organised by the art centres of Seine-Saint-Denis (including the Laboratoires d’Aubervillers, L’espace Khiasma, La Galerie de Noisy-Le-Sec and Synesthésie), Violaine Lochu created the audio piece, Song-lines. Her inspiration was the traditions of Australian Aborigines (for whom a song-line denotes the route between two distant points) she wandered through the extended suburbs without a map, asking people she met along the way for directions. The pieces created based on these journeys resemble oral maps, mixing geographical directions with audio textures collected along the way.
