EVERYTHING IN IT’S RIGHT PLACE

Vocal performance, 8’, le 22.02.2013 // One space after an other one, proposition#1 In a loft, la courneuve

For the project One place after another one, Violaine Lochu perfoms in an inhabited space transformed into a gallery for one evening. What better place to question the notion of “home”, house and dwelling?

As always with the artist, form passes through language. Everything in it’s right place is a vocal performance which verbalises the subjective organisation of the home, mental cartography, “cosmos in every sense of the term” as Bachelard writes. At first the space is considered / rated, listed, arranged, cataloged, folded. This arrangement gradually disintegrates, chaos creeps into the language, words slide, shake, fall, are reversed… The voice that seeks to contain the advance of chaos, accelerates, stutters, suffocates. The house overflows, fantasy encroaches on reality, the nest becomes threatening or even frightening.
