“I asked a German who had no notion of French to write down what she heard as she listened to Edith Piaf”s La vie en rose. I wanted to experience my own language from outside, to retrieve it’s musicality. The same procedure was applied in reverse to the German song Lili Marleen. I then performed both songs respecting as closely as possible these auditory transcriptions, accompanying myself on the accordion.”
